Maniac Mayne On Love For Africa, Dream Collaborations And The Afrobeat Takeover

Miami-based talented rapper Maniac Mayne recently jetted into the country during his East African media tour. The Sauce sat him down for a quickfire and he let us in on a few gems.

The easy-going rapper describes his music as flavorful, energetic and real. He expresses his love for the motherland, favorite, disparities between the African and American music landscapes, and his love for Afrobeats.

Mayne was accompanied by Madaraka Festival CEO organizer and proprietor, Javan Okelo. The two were an integral part of the promotional tour for Madaraka Festival 2024, which Mayne himself is likely to take the stage on.

“The Madaraka Festival stands as a beacon of cultural celebration, championing unity and diversity. In May and June 2023, the Madaraka Festival USA TOUR united various African musicians like Sauti Sol, King Kaka, Draze, and Anthony Cole, reaching over 30 million people online. This initiative played a pivotal role in bridging African and African American communities,” Reads an excerpt from the festival’s promotional flyer.

Helped by Okelo for the last decade, Madaraka Festival has been spearheading cultural diversity and togetherness by bringing people from different walks of life together since 2014.

Next year’s will prospectively feature acts like Nyashinski, Naomi Achu, Victoria Kimani, Eddy Kenzo in May/June 2024 and Bien-Aime Baraza, Khaligraph Jones, Bensoul, Nviiri The Storyteller, Fena Gitu in August/September 2024.
