Rocky Relishing Consistent Game Time

Hibs defender Rocky Bushiri is hoping to build on a consistent run of games in the starting XI and get back to winning ways against St Mirren on Wednesday.

The powerful centre-back has started seven of Nick Montgomery’s first nine games in charge and admits he has been relishing the consistent game time.

Rocky’s performances have caught the eye on the international level, with the centre-back receiving another call-up to the DR Congo squad for their upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Mauritania and Sudan later this month.

Speaking to Hibs TV ahead of our trip to St Mirren Rocky told us how much he has been enjoying his football recently.

“I am really happy to be back in the (Hibs) team. I am a competitor, I will always fight for myself and the team. I have been trying to get comfortable with the new Gaffer’s philosophy and give my best every game.

“I am really proud to stay part of the squad with DR Congo and it proves that Hibs are a big Club and it is up to me to keep performing for this club, to keep my place in that squad.”

Although results have not gone to plan in recent weeks, Rocky explained that both belief and confidence are still high in the camp.

“At some point, we feel the luck will turn our way. The results haven’t been great recently but we need to recognise that we have recently been on an unbeaten run, so we need to keep working hard and trust our process.

“Hampden has hurt us very hard, after the game it was painful but we have to move on. It’s a new week and we have a new opportunity to continue in the right direction in the league.

“St Mirren is a very good team, they are a compact team, we know that because we have played them already this season. Every game is different though, we don’t know how they will turn up on the day but we just need to keep doing our thing, work hard for each other and try to get a positive result.”
